邱醫師回函：

Dear all, The indications for autologous fat grafting to the breasts included correction of congenital asymmetry, augmentation of the breast after surgical removal of breast cancer, and cosmetic augmentation. The ratio at the time of the study was 12 %, 1% and 87 % respectively, meaning that the total number of the cases for purely cosmetic augmentation was 326 x 87% = 284. Some patients underwent 2nd session of treatment. A small number of these patients underwent 3rd session of treatment. The mean session of treatment was 1.3. For those who underwent 3 sessions of augmentation the number of breasts operated was accumulated up to 6 breasts for one patient, explaining why the number of breasts exceeded the number of patient so much. No patient underwent 4th session of fat grafting, therefore, the mean volume of session 4 was empty. Total injected volume equals [mean volume per session] x [mean number of session] if there is no misunderstanding. The complication rate for these patients was 6.7 % (19 cases in 284 patients) including 2 fat necrosis, 2 postoperative infection, and 15 indurations found. When the study was conducted, only the data after 1st session of treatment was included. The change in breast size and follow-up time were analyzed for the 1st treatment resulting in a longer follow-up time as compared with the the follow-up time starting from the last treatment. Collectively, these data were for the patients underwent cosmetic breast augmentation with fat grafting. They did not have previous breast surgeries or other therapeutic procedures of the breasts. In our experience, patients who underwent implant removal before fat grafting to the breasts had significantly higher postoperative complication rates.
